Board Members

Sheree Monique Manlove is a family oriented person who has been married for 28 years to Dwayne Manlove Sr. Out of this marriage she has 2 children, a daughter who is a college graduate and an extraordinary aspiring baker, and a son who is currently attending college, who is a Business major with a concentration in Entrepreneurship and Finance.

She has an extensive background in the fields of Social Work and Educational Counseling. Sheree obtained a Bachelor's degree in Social Work in 1984 and a Master’s degree in Elementary School Counseling in 1996. She has worked in the field of Social Work for approximately 15 years in various positions such as a Developmental Disabilities Case Manager, Social Worker Supervisor, and Counselor, Sheree worked as a Family Crisis Therapist, Parenting Instructor and Guidance Counselor in diverse educational settings ranging from elementary to high school.

Sheree is the Executive Director of Positive Directions, II LLC which provides contractual counseling and school based intervention services to various Delaware Schools Districts (Christina, Brandywine, Colonial and Red Clay). This organization has provided services since 2000 to present and has served and impacted over 25,000 youth and their families.

Additionally, Sheree is the Executive Director of a 501c3 non-profit; Helping Hands Development Center, Inc. (HHDC). This company provides a wide variety of empowerment and enrichment services to families with a strong emphasis on engaging youth. HHDC hosts an annual celebratory community event spotlighting youth, their academic achievements, gifts and talents. Recognition and awards are presented to youth who participate and excel in the Financial Literacy Program, a city-wide Writing Contest and a Poster contest dealing with the topic of Anti-Bullying. In addition to youth, Helping Hands selects and honors a community based organization that has similar goals such as motivating, mentoring and encouraging the youth of today, through many different opportunities and possibilities.

Both community-based programs are currently housed at 305 A Street, Wilmington DE. Sheree is motivated by her passion to serve others and has a strong desire to make positive community imprints. Both companies were designed to bring healing and wholeness to youth and their families. She is a believer of early intervention. One quote that best describes her thoughts is:


“It is easier to build strong children, than to repair broken men”



Pat Pettaway Ward has been working in the health and social services industry for over 30 years.  She has been part of the YWCA DELAWARE team for more than 9 years, and during that time, has advanced into the position of Chief Housing Officer and a member of the executive leadership team.  In her role leading the entire social service continuum and dual site housing operation, she is responsible for overseeing the 24-7 residential operation, as well as ensuring that all the women and families receive case management and life skill support along their journey to financial self-sufficiency.  Prior to joining the YWCA DELAWARE, Pat had a distinguished career of 29 years of service with the State of Delaware in various positions. She has been working in a leadership roles at her church for over twenty years.  She is passionate about positively impacting change for families in her community, thus giving back through her service, on the Board of Directors of two local non-profits; one of which is Helping Hands Development Center Inc.




Carolyn Morgan is a native of the Pittsburgh, PA area. She completed college in Ohio; earning two bachelor’s degrees from Central State University, magna cum laude honors, and a master’s degree from Ohio State University, magna cum laude honors. She is a licensed clinical social worker and clinical therapist, and has been employed as the Delaware Regional Director for Progressive Life Center for about ten years. She is credited with developing and expanding their Treatment Foster Care, Independent Living, Crisis Intervention, and Parent Partner programs. Carolyn has been previously employed with Delaware State University, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. She has numerous awards and recognitions for outstanding leadership performance. Carolyn serves on several community boards, organizations, and committees; and is an active volunteer with several local agencies. She is the chairperson of the Women of Color Task Force, and is involved in various domestic violence prevention causes. She champions many advocacy efforts, and is an accomplished public speaker, trainer, and grant writer. She is a deacon in her church, as well as Women’s Ministry Director.  She is a proud wife, mother, and grandmother.



Deirdre Avant was born in a rural town called Cambridge on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. There she attended school and graduated from Cambridge South Dorchester High. Afterwards she attended Goldey-Beacom College located in Wilmington Delaware, from which she received a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration.  After graduation, she chose to continue to reside in Wilmington Delaware where she is now raising her two children. Before becoming an entrepreneur, she worked for the following companies: Trans Union, CoreStates Bank, DuPont Dow Elastomers, MBNA and Barclays. She has worked in the collections and credit area for over 7 years.  After that she switched to an administrative role where she excelled to become the Executive Assistant to the Chief Information Officer. Currently she is the owner and CEO of Professional Administrative Services. One of the services offered is Business Development, which is where she helps people with business ideas, who are just starting. Other services offered are as follows: Website/Logo Development, Phones/Calendar Management, and Database Development. She currently assists the following businesses:, TWW SR Ministries, Stay Real Inc., and JHJR Ministries to name a few. With each one of these companies her role and tasks are different. During her years, here in Wilmington she has volunteered and participated in many Community and Nonprofit Agency activities and programs. Just to name a few she began assisting the American Heart Association, Adopt-A-Family, Tutoring, Rehabilitation projects for Girl Scout Camps, Stop the Violence Coalition, Boy Scouts, Advisory Board for Homelife a division of the YWCA and many more. Volunteering has been a large part of her even before she moved to Delaware. As a teenager, she volunteered to assist in the Special Olympics, Elderly Assistance programs and others.



Rettie Winfield is the founder of Open Door Embassy and CEO of the NY Christian Bible College located in Mount Vernon, New York.  She graduated from The Bible Church of Christ Theological Institute in 2001, and is currently a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate. She is a member of the Black Women's Political Caucus of New Rochelle, and an active ordained minister  Rettie is committed to the education and empowerment of children. Through the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependency of Westchester, Inc. Rettie teaches social and economic empowerment at the Mount Vernon, NY Boy’s and Girl’s club. Through the New York Housing Authority, Rettie heads the summer arts program for inner city children and young adults Rettie’s endeavors also include media and journalism as. In 2004 she wrote, narrated and co-directed her first Christian documentary film, and became a radio broadcast announcer for numerous Christian radio stations throughout the east coast. She is also the author of three books has written numerous screenplays, which are under consideration. Above all of her achievements, Rev. Rettie A. Winfield puts nothing above her relationship and devotion to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She gives all honor and glory to Him, and believes that nothing is possible in her life without Him.



 Karen Callaway is a graduate of Goldey- Beacom College and has worked in the accounting field since 1991.  Karen has a penchant for numbers and from a child has always been fascinated with how numbers work together.  She specializes in bookkeeping and if you were to ask Karen what her passion is, she would emphatically reply, “I have a few of them, but bookkeeping, is definitively one of them.”Additionally, Karen and her husband, Chris have been together for over 28 years and are the proud parents of one married daughter, Ashley  who by the way, is a soon to be prosecutor for the State of Delaware.  Kudos AshleyJ  Moreover, she is passionate about the wellbeing of children, families, animals and a plethora of social issues.  In short, Karen cares about the plight of others, always roots for the underdog and will always step in to make a difference and impact the lives of others for the better.  Karen is currently the Office Manager for PD & PDII, LLC which is a company who contracts for the State of Delaware in providing services for multiple school districts in Northern Delaware.    She oversees approximately 100 employees and transacts business with the appropriate administrator of each school respectively included within the contract.

Arijuana Hitchens is an active member of her family and the community, who desires to help others in any way she can.   She is the wife of her high school sweetheart, Darren, and together they have four beautiful children.  She values her family time and strives to keep the priority of God, family, business.  Her husband and family have always been supportive of her endeavors.  In addition to being a Board Member of HHDC and the AJTJ Scholarship Foundation, she is also an active member of New Destiny Fellowship, where she serves as a Trustee. Arijuana is the Founder of Taxes & More, LLC, founded in 2008.  With over 20 years of Tax, Auditing & Finance experience, she holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a Minor in Finance from Lincoln University.  She is an entrepreneur with a wealth of knowledge and is licensed in Financial Services and Real Estate.  Her vision is to carry out the assignment of adding value to others, by providing quality and personal service, with sincerity and a smile.  She takes her assignment very seriously.  Her goal is to master money, so that money will never master her!




Ronald Lewis was called into the ministry in 1990 and had his trial sermon on April 12, 1992.  He attended Bethel Bible Institute and upon completion, worked with the audio and video department for many years as a soundman.  He currently manages the Destiny Word Bookstore. He is the proud father of three children; a daughter who is a reading specialist, a son who is a mechanic and a son who is a doctor.  He also has four grandchildren.  Additionally, Ron has been employed at Dupont, as a skilled technician for 39.5 years. Moreover, Ron is the founder of a scholarship program, where two to three scholarships are given a year to college bound students.  The scholarship is called “Yes We Can.”  When someone asks, I say, “yes we can,” make a difference.  Ron loves music and one of the things he enjoys is going to jazz concerts to see John Coltrane, One of his favorite artists.  He currently serves on the Elder Board at New Destiny Fellowship where the pastor is Apostle Thomas Wesley Weeks, Sr.



Gregory L Collins currently is the Career Education Department Chair at Newark High School. In addition, he teaches several sections of Accounting and Banking courses. Gregory has held several Senior management positions in operational risk management, consumer lending, credit analysis and community reinvestment.  He holds a Master of Education along with a B.A. in Business Administration.
