Our 1st Annual Golf Fundraiser & Silent Auction
The sky was blue, the weather was stunning and a wonderful time was had by all who attended and participated in our 1st Annual Golf Fundraiser & Silent Auction. There was plenty of laughter and friendly competition among the teams. We had those who could genuinely golf and those who thought they could golf. Those of us who thought we could golf, displayed our talents putting. Whether we could golf or not, Being a part of something that will impact the lives of children and families is so worth it. The day began at 10am and included registration of our golfers, setting up our silent auction tables and then sending our golfers out to begin their competition. Of course, we did not send them out hungry, we gave them food fuel of sandwiches, chips and a beverage. Additionally, we provided bags for our golfers. Driving the golf carts is always fun, especially when we get to witness if anyone gets a hole in one to win any of the prizes. One of sponsors provided a Porsche truck and another sponsor provided a Fiat. It was hilarious listening to those who were competing emphatically declare they were going to win one of those cars. We even had golfers who were not signed up with Helping Hands Development Center, excited about the vehicles which were up for grabs. Needless to say, none of our golfers hit that hole in one for the vehicles. Nonetheless, they expressed what an awesome time they had, and were happy to be involved in an event that would further the cause of the children and families which we serve. Our night ended with a fantastic dinner catered by the staff at Back Creek Golf Course. The meal was absolutely exciting to the palate. The staff at Back Creek was extraordinary in their guidance and support throughout the day. We had many supporters, who share the vision of making a difference in the lives of children. When one is able to nurture and impact children at an early age, we can assist in helping to build character and integrity within our youth, as we point them in the direction of being successful adults.. Frederick Douglas declared, “It is easier to build strong children, than to repair broken men.” This is one declaration which we firmly believe in. Thank you for your continued support as we continue to champion the cause for supporting our children, families and communities. Please feel free to visit our donation page and along with us, empower our families one child at a time.
